Additional Information

This is a silicone damp-course injection cream which is suitable for stone, masonry and masonry walls.

Our DPC Cream can be applied from either outside or in!

Damp proof courses should, be installed in accordance with the British Standard ‘Code of Practice for Installation of Chemical Damp Proof Courses’ BS6576 (2005).

Specifically, the DPC once inserted should be below the level of timber floors – unless prevented by structural considerations (in which case other measures may be required to isolate joists for example from damp walls below the DPC).

DPC Injection Cream is designed with controlling rising damp in mind, but walls CAN remain damp after DPC installation. They can also remain damp where contamination by hygroscopic salts has occured. In such instances, special measures may be needed to provide long term control of dampness in these walls (give one of our dampness-boffins a call for free advice, as ever!).

PREPARATION

Remember to check all rainwater products to make sure that they are in good order. Clean, repair or install drains to carry away any surface water. If your interior floors are below the external ground level, remember to form trenches along the external face of the walls at least 150mm below the proposed Damp proof course level (where the foundation depth allows). If for some reason this approach is unfeasible, the DPC must be placed 150mm above the exterior ground level and the interior walls must be tanked below the course to prevent lateral migration of moisture and salts.

Remove any skirting, render/plaster and fixings to expose the line of the proposed DPC. Interior plaster which may be contaminated with hygroscopic salts, should be cut back by a minimum of 1M above the DPC line or 300mm above the highest signs of the dampness or salts. Check your flooring timber for any signs of fungal decay and recommend repair or replacement as appropriate. Ensure that all wall cavities are cleared of waste.
